Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) commissioned this painting for the cover of his monumental work, The Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita.
Instead of a traditional picture of Krishna on the chariot, Kriyananda requested a depiction of the 'Divine Vision'—the moment when Krishna, as Lord of the Infinite, reveals his infinite form to Arjuna his disciple. In this vision we see the shining worlds flowing forth. From the Divine fount myriad forms emerge and evolve. Planets and stars float on rivulets of time and space. This is the moment in the lives of all devotees when we glimpse the vastness of creation and its source in the cosmic beloved.

About Dana Lynne Andersen
"The arts must once again tap the wellspring of the universal truths, ancient and enduring, to vision beyond the crisis of our current times to the solutions born of dormant higher faculties." —Dana Lynne Andersen
Dana Lynne Andersen is a multi-media artist, writer, playwright and teacher with a Master's Degree in Consciousness Studies. Acclaimed for her pioneering use of art and creativity as vehicles for shifting consciousness, she has taught and exhibited on three continents. Her most recent show "FUSION" was at the prestigious Habitat Center in Delhi. At the opening of her exhibition at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, president Robert McDermott described her as a "Vesuvius' of Creativity" and spoke of the importance of her work as a visionary for the consciousness community. She was artist in residence at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and is one of their founding 'luminaries'. Her artwork has been featured on the covers of books and journals internationally, and she has been interviewed for numerous television and news media.
Andersen's paintings have been described as 'epic', cosmological' and 'evolutionary'. Her large-scale paintings, up to 8 meters across, are stunning in their power and breadth of vision. Sweeping panoramas of color and form convey simultaneously the vastness of the universe without and the mysterious depths of inner space. In works such as "Emissary" scintillating symbols resonate a sense of numinous intelligence and archetypal knowledge. Though rooted in painting, her work often includes multi-media performance. Her most recent performance "Song of Creation" was performed as part of her California exhibition "Zeitgeist; the Spirit of the Times".
Andersen sends a clarion call to artists and patrons throughout the world; "The Arts have the potential to catalyze the evolution of humanity." In contrast to the current notion of 'art for arts sake', Andersen advocates 'Art on purpose', referring to work that is deliberate in its intention to uplift humanity and serve as a conduit of revelation. Andersen founded Awakening Arts Network, connecting artists throughout the world who are awakening higher consciousness through the Arts. She is currently launching the "Academy of Art, Creativity and Consciousness" in Italy as well as completing a book on the role of art in society.
