Lotus are sacred flowers in both Hinduism and Buddhism. They ascend from mud, where their roots are firmly planted, above the water and open to the sun high above.

So we, with our feet planted firmly on earth, can aspire to reach towards our highest potential as spirit. The lotus in my photos grow in abundance in a small pond. They bloom for many months in various degrees of color and unfoldment.
