We are what we eat, but we also are what we use to clean our homes, pamper our skin, and decorate our rooms, according to Renée Loux, accomplished raw food chef, award-winning author, and host of Fine Living TV's Easy Being Green.
In her new book, Easy Green Living, she applies her whole-foods philosophy to home, garden, and beauty routines.
Renée Loux demonstrates that being green at home is easy, affordable, and better in every sense of the word. She discusses the daily choices we face that can keep the home, personal care, and beauty routines free of toxins. She exposes the dirt on cleaning products and common hazardous ingredients and reveals her recommendations for greener options, including her "Green Thumb Guides" for choosing non-toxic, eco-smart, and human-friendly products. Peppered with compelling and inspiring facts, Easy Green Living is full of "5 Step" lists, products and recipes for green cleaning, helpful charts, safer choices for every room, and inspirational advice so we can save the planet--one cleaning spritz at a time.
As recent special issues of Vanity Fair, Time, Newsweek, and other major publications have demonstrated, going green is an idea whose time has come. Whether addressing big-picture topics like renewable energy, or offering simple suggestions for everyday living, this complete lifestyle guide shows that healthier choices don't mean a radical or complicated life change--it is, after all, easy to be green.

With a passion for food and green living,Renée Loux has walked and worked in many circles. Renée Loux, TV show host of "It's Easy Being Green", has been called a "green guru" and coined as the "Queen of Green". With a life-long passion for the environment around her as well as her culinary prowess, Renée moved to Maui, Hawaii in 1995 as a chef for a destination resort. In 1996 she opened one of America's first raw foods restaurants, The Raw Experience, in Paia on the north shore of Maui. She helped to create the next generation of restaurants, with great organic fare, classes on raw food preparation and nutrition, live music, an intern program and a deep commitment to sourcing local, sustainably-grown produce.
Having sold her share in the restaurant to her partner in 1999, she began to work privately in celebrity circles, teach culinary arts at the School for Natural Gourmet in New York City and consult for spas, restaurants and hotels, focusing on green living. Renée is the author of two cookbooks, Living Cuisine (Penguin-Avery) and The Balanced Plate (Rodale), and has starred alongside Woody Harrelson in the film Go Further.
Mike Meyers says, "Renée is the type of spiritual seeker who not only speaks of their ideals, but lives them out as well. She believes that spirituality requires a soldier's discipline and not just a bumper sticker's bromide."
Woody Harrelson calls her "a striking green-eyed wonder and taste master ... with revolutionary thinking about food."
Alicia Silverstone calls her the "Green Martha Stewart".
Dr. Dean Ornish says, "Renée brings such an extraordinarily satisfying approach to food and to her life. Her passion and balanced approach is at once sensually gratifying and thoroughly wholesome."
And, it's Alice Cooper who has aptly named her the "Queen of Green".
Renée has appeared on numerous TV shows including Emeril Live and the Today Show for her expertise on organic food and green living. She works as an eco-advisor and environmental consultant for companies, hotels, spas, restaurants, events and film festivals and sits on the board of Exhale Spas, where she has collaborated to design and formulate Exhale's GRN line of eco-conscious and mindfully designed skin care products. Renée lives in Maui, Hawaii with her husband, Shep Gordon, in a house on the beach powered by solar energy.
