Want to learn how to speak the language of critters, large and small? Easy-to-read and understand, Ted Andrews's bestselling Animal Speak shows readers how to identify his or her animal totem and learn how to invoke its energy and use it for personal growth and inner discovery. Nature lovers will love this insightful compendium, chock-full of touching stories about animals, natural history, and animal folklore. Readers will also learn magical animal rites and how to read omens. Animal Speak includes a dictionary of bird, animal, reptile, and insect totems, which describe each creature's meaning. For example, if a person's totem is dragonfly, he or she was most likely excessively emotional and passionate in early years, learning with age to balance it with mental clarity and control. If a dragonfly suddenly shows up in your life, it means you may need to gain a new perspective or make a change. --P. Randall Cohan
Ted Andrews is an internationally recognized author, teacher, storyteller and mystic, a leader in human potential specializing in metaphysical and spiritual fields. He is the author of some 30 books many of which have been translated into foreign languages. His best-known book is already a classic best seller: ‘Animal Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great and Small (1993)’.
After attending graduate school at Xavier University in Cincinnati, for ten years Ted was a teacher and counselor in the public school system, 7 of which were spent working with disadvantaged students in a special needs program, for this he has received both local and state recognition. He has had an extensive formal and informal education and has been involved in the study of esoterica, the occult and holistic health for over 30 years.
As a worldwide acclaimed speaker and teacher, each year Ted presents sold-out seminars to thousands of people throughout the US and Canada, and his appearances are equally popular in the United Kingdom, Europe and parts of Asia. He is often featured on national and local television as well as radio networks. In May 2002 he was specially invited to speak to the UNSRC at the United Nations in New York for his writings and work with animals.
Known for his dynamic and practical seminars and his ability to make the mystical available to everyone. He focuses on translating esoteric material to make it comprehensible and practical for all. This includes re-writing and evaluating ancient scriptures, literature and teachings for use by the modern spiritual student. As both a scholar and artist, Ted takes the wondrous, reduces the fanciful, and grounds it in reality.
Ted is certified in basic hypnosis and acupressure, and is involved in the study and use of herbs as an alternative path in health care. He is active in the holistic healing field focusing strongly on esoteric forms of healing with sound, music and voice. From an early age Ted was trained on the piano, but also employs the use of the Celtic harp, bamboo flute, shaman rattles, Tibetan bells, Tibetan Singing Bowl and quartz crystal bowls to create individual healing therapies to induce higher states of consciousness. As a clairvoyant, he also works with past-life analysis, aura interpretation, dreams, numerology and the Tarot.
Called a true Renaissance man and schooled in music, Ted has composed, performed and produced music for ten audiocassettes. He has worked as a holistic healer, with a focus on creating individualized music therapies, and is a continuing student of ballet and kung fu.
Probably best known for his work with animals, Ted, along with his wife of 26 years, holds state and federal permits to work with birds of prey. A long time volunteer at the Brukner Nature Center in Troy, Ohio, he works in the Animal Rehabilitation Program, serves as a trail guide and lecturer to groups who visit the center, and performs wildlife rescue. He also conducts animal education and storytelling programs with animals in school classrooms, and throughout the year gives freely of his own time and expenses to help young people discover the wonder of animals and nature.
