Product Description

A Short Life Sketch

Anandamayi Ma (1896-1982) was one of the most influential spiritual luminaries of the Twentieth Century.

Her devotees ranged from Prime Ministers and Kings to great Saints and simple villagers, and people came from all over the world to sit at Her feet. Although virtually illiterate, she spoke with the power of direct experience and won all hearts by her sweetness and love. Her influence and blessing is still felt by those who turn to her in prayer.

This book provides an introduction to Her life and teachings with the hope that Seekers of Truth will turn towards this source of blessings and grace which is Anandamayi Ma.

A portion of the funds for the sale of this item will go to "The Sadananda Foundation," an organization founded by Sri Swami Nirvanananda Giri and Sri Swami Mangalananda.

About Swami Mangalananda

Swami Mangalananda is an American Sannyasi (Hindu Monk) who for many years has lived in Ma Anandamayi Ashram in Omkareshwar, India. He is a direct disciple of Anandamayi Ma, and in the last appendix of the book, shares his personal memories of being with Ma.

About Anandamayi Ma

Born in 1896 in Kheora, a small village in Bengal, now Bangladesh, Nirmala Sundari Devi was realized from birth. Though from outer appearances she had a normal childhood, even from this early age, she saw only with a divine vision. Her parents arranged a marriage for her in the traditional way, but her husband quickly recognized she was not an ordinary woman. Their marriage was never consummated and he later became her devotee. She was eventually named Anandamayi Ma, the bliss-bestowing mother. Though she never wrote or even gave spiritual discourses, she did answer questions and such talks were transcribed and compiled into several books. Her words have a loving, compelling, and very powerful quality about them.

"Who is it that loves and who that suffers?

He alone stages a play with Himself.

The individual suffers because he perceives duality.

Find the One everywhere and in everything

and there will be an end to pain and suffering."
